CRRSA Act / HEERF II Grant for Students (Spring 2021)

CRRSA Act / HEERF II Grant for Students (Spring 2021)

The Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations (CRRSA) Act was recently passed by Congress in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, which included funding to institutions of higher education using the same Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF) model that was established in the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Securities (CARES) Act.

冰球突破豪华版游戏下载 has finalized its campus-specific protocol to distribute student funds, which is based on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) data and current spring 2021 term enrollment status as of April 12, 2021 to determine eligibility. There will not be an application for this grant. Unfortunately, not all students will be eligible to receive emergency grant funding.

U.S. Department of Education CRRSAA Guidance

Unlike the CARES Act, the CRRSAA requires that institutions prioritize students with exceptional need, such as students who receive Pell Grants, in awarding financial aid grants to students. The CRRSAA also allows grants to students exclusively enrolled in distance education. At this time, the Department of Education has not confirmed the eligibility of DACA, undocumented, and international students.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Students must have a completed and verified 2020-2021 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as of April 9, 2021 on file to be considered.
  • Students must be Title IV eligible and received a Pell grant from the federal government in spring 2021 term. This includes meeting all Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) requirements.
  • The student was enrolled in a degree-seeking program for the spring 2021 term as of April 9, 2021.
Reminder! Not all students will be eligible to receive CRRSA Act grant funding.

Exclusions

  • Students that were selected for, but have not completed, financial aid verification.
  • Students who do not meet all Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) requirements.
  • Students who are in default on a Title IV loan, owe a balance for returned Title IV funds or have fraudulently received funds in the past.
  • Students who have previously earned a bachelors degree or higher, making them ineligible for a Pell grant.
  • Students with federal or state convictions for drug possession or sale.

Receiving Funds

A recipient of the CRRSA Act grant will receive an email notification beginning April 12, 2021. CRRSA Act grant amounts will be viewable on Campus Connection under the Financial Aid tile beginning Tuesday, April 20, 2021. The CRRSA Act grant may be used to cover any component of a student’s cost of attendance (COA), or for emergency costs that arise due to COVID-19, including tuition, food, housing, health care and child care. If a recipient wanted the grant applied to their outstanding balance, they must have had to notify the Financial Aid Office through email no later than 4:30pm CST on Friday, April 16, 2021, stated in 冰球突破豪华版游戏下载’s CRRSA Act Grant Recipient notification email sent to the recipients.

Refunds will begin Friday, April 23, 2021. We strongly encouraged students to sign up for direct deposit to prevent any delays in receiving their refund. If the student has not enrolled in direct deposit, a paper check will be issued and can be picked up in Student Finance, Stevens Hall 204. The check will automatically be mailed to the student's mailing address on file 10 business days after the check has been issued. Please make sure your mailing address is up to date in Campus Connection.

Reminder! Not all students will be eligible to receive CRSSA Act grant funding.
